A low turnout at the Lords and Ladies first practice of the season didn't
deter Alex from joining "The Stumpy Club". Alex hit the third batting
practice pitch he saw over the left field wall for a BPHR! (That's a Batting Practice Home Run) With any
luck, Alex (who was CRUSHING pitches) will be able to translate that to
the real games. (Unlike someone...)
Unfortunately, prior commitments prevented Stumpy from witnessing the second member join his club.
Other highlights from practice:
- Pete and Kate are ringers. No doubt about it.
- Jeremy has warning track power. This is not a highlight.
- Tim showed that he's gunning for the starting left fielder position
- Mike demonstrated that we really need Chris to pitch this year.
The
get-together after the practice was more subdued than certain other Lords and Ladies team functions. Brian and Diana, who missed practice,
arrived to show commitment to consuming team-provided food and beer. It
was a bit of an alumni night as well, as former Lords and Ladies players Irving and
Crystal made appearances.
A team vote was held after practice, and passed 6-0: Any Lords and Ladies player who didn't show up to practice will be playing their least favourite position for the first game of the year. Keep an eye out for Brian in centre field, Diana catching and Stumpy pitching!
Of
special note, thanks goes out to Tim for hosting the BBQ! As always, Tim was a gracious and generous host and his contribution should not go
unrecognized!
I welcome you Alex to the Elite "Stumpy's Club".
ReplyDeleteFrom now on, life will never be the same.
You are no longer part of the regular citizenship that we know of. You are now an Elite Citizen.
Just to show you an example, what everyone knows of as calling 911 for emergencies, the Elite number is 912, they are faster, better, and use the really good pain killers for Elite members. The ceremony will be held during the first game, if i'm there.
Welcome, and congratulations.
I don't want to be in any club that would have people like me as a member.
